2nd International Congress of Gender Medicine
The International Society of Gender Medicine presents the
2nd International Congress of Gender Medicine focusing on the scientific impact of biological sex/gender on normal function and the experience of disease in women and men. The aim of the Congress is to invite an international group of experts in this field to provide the audience with an overview of the latest scientific data and information on all the sub-specialities of medicine.
The Congress will provide the participants with:
- Up-to-date information about gender-specific features of patient care in all the sub-specialities of medicine
- Data to show that gender-specific medicine improves patient outcome
- New avenues of communication and collaboration between the members of the faculty and the audience
- A compilation of abstracts culled from the proceedings of the Congress will be published in the indexed journal Gender Medicine
- An opportunity to join the newly formed Int’l. Association of Gender Medicine
- The foundation of a body of knowledge needed to construct a system of optimal practice of gender-specific medicine

An Intersex Primer: Breaking Down Barriers Through Understanding Shared Concerns Discussion on intersexuality and the parallels shared by others in the gender community and society. Not an attempt to disassociate but to maintain the differentiation and draw out an understanding that we all have much in common. Caregivers, family, friends and members of the TG community are invited to join us as we promote the advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding of the complexities of sex and gender.

Beyond Boundaries: A Blueprint for LGBTI Healthcare Equality
On March 14th through 18th of 2007, Philadelphia will host a national LGBTI health summit. “Beyond Boundaries: A Blueprint for LGBTI Healthcare Equality” will bring together over 500 of the most influential leaders, decision-makers, and practitioners in the field of LGBTI health and wellness from around the country.
The Summit’s leadership team includes key figures from LGBTI health centers, such as Philadelphia’s Mazzoni Center, the City of Philadelphia, researchers and educators from institutes and universities (including event partner and co-sponsor, Drexel University School of Public Health), health care practitioners, grass-roots activists, consumers, and more.

The Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Support Group (AISSG) of Western Canada is hosting a meeting on Saturday, May 14th from 10am to 4pm.
Dr. Charmian Quigley, pediatric endocrinologist and internationally recognized expert on androgen receptor defects, will be the guest speaker.
The meeting is designed for persons with AIS and similar conditions resulting in spontaneously developed atypical reproductive anatomy; parents of children diagnosed with these conditions; partners and support persons for those with these conditions; family physicians of attendees.

The next San Francisco Bay Area 47,XXY/Klinefelter Syndrome Support Group Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Bothin Auditorium at California Pacific Medical Center, 3700 California Street, San Francisco. Dr. Carole Samango-Sprouse will talk about “Reading Dysfunction in Klinefelter Syndrome.”
A family picnic is also being organized sometime in August.

We are preparing a programme focussing on the impending changes in our appreciation of Disorders of Sex Development, from a biological, epidemiological, psychological, surgical and last but not least clinical point of view. The meeting will consist of plenary lectures, guided poster rounds and symposia focusing on molecular pathophysiology with relevant clinical implications, with internationally distinguished speakers presenting data and opinions. There will be ample time to present and discuss your own data.
